A T'way Air aircraft touched down at Sanya Phoenix International Airport at 23:54 on Nov 17, launching a new regular flight route between Sanya and Cheongju. This follows three other international routes, “Sanya-Minsk", "Ulaanbaatar-Sanya-Ulan-Ude" and "Sanya-Kuala Lumpur", that commenced within the past four days.
Sanya has now established 39 international air routes connecting it to 30 destinations worldwide, covering key regions like Central Asia, Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, and Europe. The city is rapidly building a global aviation network with itself at the core.
To ensure these routes become and remain sustainable, the Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports of Hainan Province has conducted multiple overseas tourism promotions in target markets like Southeast Asia, Russia, and Belarus. This "government guidance, market operation, and enterprise primacy" model, combined with direct flights, visa-free policies, and convenient language services, has made traveling to Hainan easier for tourists.
The new routes are boosting international visitor numbers and facilitating the cross-border flow of information, capital, and technology, injecting new vitality into Sanya and Hainan as whole. Looking ahead, Sanya plans to take advantage of these new air links to develop more integrated tourism itineraries in cooperation with neighboring cities.
