The film Makers of As the Water Flows — screened in the Island Carnival section of the 7th Hainan Island International Film Festival — have announced its nationwide release, as it is set to hit the theaters on Jan 24.

The film, created by an all-Yunnan team, presents a touching story set by the shores of Green Lake in Kunming, capital of Yunnan province.

The film's release happens to coincide with the migration season of the red-billed gulls in Kunming.

The warmth in winter and the healing power of the Spring City — as Kunming is known due to its mild climate throughout the year — is expected to traverse mountains and seas through the silver screen, reaching the heart of every viewer.

During the 7th Hainan Island International Film Festival, As the Water Flows was presented to a wide audience of film enthusiasts.

After the screening, the film team shared their insights and experiences of the production process, helping audiences gain a deeper understanding of their artistic journey.

Bian Zhuo, the director, revealed that the inspiration for the film came from a diary left by his grandfather after his passing.

Bian then transformed these precious memories into a visual narrative, capturing the intricate and enduring emotional landscape of a Chinese family on screen.
