Damao village makes China's beautiful leisure villages list

Damao village in Sanya's Jiyang district was selected to join the list of China's beautiful leisure villages in 2022 by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. It was also the only one selected in Sanya.

A total of 255 villages were selected this year, 84 of which were also designated characteristic villages of agritainment. Five villages in Hainan province made this year's list of beautiful leisure villages.

To qualify, the villages must have three characteristics: an abundance of innovative businesses; local farmers who are heavily invested in the rural tourism industry; and they must use digital technology to market their services.

Damao village gets its name from Damao Mountain, which is in its jurisdiction. Surrounded by mountains, the village is scattered with houses, rivers, and fields in the basin. Various tourism and cultural industries have developed rapidly in recent years relying on the beautiful scenery in the village.

Being selected as a beautiful leisure village in China is an important way to promote the ecological value of rural production and life, while also broadening the channels for farmers to increase their incomes. It is also an important measure to promote the integration and development of rural primary, secondary, and tertiary industries.

With this selection, Damao village will take this opportunity to create a livable and beautiful village with innovative industries and a livable environment, providing solid support for promoting rural vitalization efforts, while also realizing agricultural and rural modernization.
