During preparations for the 12th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities, Sanya is setting a new trend in green and low-carbon practices.
Low-carbon methods were used in the construction of the event's venues. The opening and closing ceremonies, grand ethnic celebrations, and competitive performances at 21 venues all made use of existing facilities.
The PTFE membrane structure used in the construction of the Egret Stadium's roof is a highlight of the venue.
According to event officials, the PTFE membrane material is unaffected by ultraviolet rays. After absorbing UV light, the glass fibers gradually fade, becoming whiter with more exposure, suitable for Sanya's high UV intensity. This innovation reduces maintenance costs for the Egret Stadium's roof membrane during event preparations, saving on costs and reducing environmental impact.

The event committee plans to deploy around 1,000 transport vehicles during the event, with approximately 60 percent being new energy vehicles.
Furthermore, the design of licensed event merchandise also emphasizes ecological and sustainable development, introducing an eco-friendly series of products: pens made from half-abandoned mineral water bottles, event lanyards made from one discarded water bottle, and event tote bags made from nine discarded water bottles.
As a key organizing principle, green practices have featured throughout the event's entire preparation process. From the construction of competition venues to the design of event merchandise, from residents' daily lives to urban development, the spirit of environmental consciousness flourishes.
