Sanya's Yazhou district wins national ecology award

In recognition of its excellent ecological environment quality, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment awarded Sanya's Yazhou district with the title of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" practice innovation base.

The announcement was made at the China Ecological Civilization Forum on Oct 28.

Located in the lower reaches of the Ningyuan River and adjacent to the South China Sea, Yazhou district benefits from abundant sunlight and heat, giving it a distinct advantage in agricultural production. It is the largest Nanfan breeding base and an important production base in China for the cultivation of off-season vegetables and tropical fruits.

In recent years, Yazhou district has further developed Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City, establishing it an influential public service platform for Nanfan breeding, and contributing to ensure China's food security.

With regards to deep-sea resources, the district has made efforts to carry out marine ecological protection and restoration work, accelerate the construction of a deep-sea technological innovation platform, and create an ecological industrial park for the breeding of aquatic plants.
