Sanya holds Nanshan ICH carnival

On Dec 30, 2022, the closing ceremony of the 2022 (23rd) Hainan Island Carnival, as well as the opening ceremony of the 2023 Sanya Nanshan Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) New Year Carnival were held in the Sanya Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone.

The 23rd Hainan Island Carnival opened in Haikou on Dec 23, 2022. Nine themed tourism routes were launched, focusing on the province's high-quality tourist attractions, rural tourism, shopping tourism and other resources. They cover themes of red culture, shopping, rural experiences, wellness, exhibition, ocean, research, rainforest and sports.

After 23 years of development, the Hainan Island Carnival has become a tourism festival brand with international influence, said an official of the Hainan Provincial Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports.

The 2023 Sanya Nanshan ICH New Year Carnival is set to last nearly 40 days, running through New Year's Day, the Spring Festival and the Lantern Festival. More than 10 activities will bring together the talents of various nationalities in Hainan, so that visitors can feel the charm of Hainan's ICH. They include the ICH Tourism Expo, the ICH Song and Dance Show, the ICH games, the Laobacha (a drink gaining popularity across the island) & Coffee Food Market, the Portrait Exhibition of ICH Inheritors, and the ICH Camping Park.
