There was a sweeping extravaganza of artworks to be seen as the Sanya-Hohhot Oil Painting Exhibition kicked off at the Sanya International Cultural and Art Industry Base on Aug 28.
The show, which is being held in the coastal resort city of Sanya in China's southernmost Hainan province, runs to Sept 11.
It aims to use oil painting to foster artistic exchanges between China's north and south, preserve the country's rich regional culture and create a dialogue between the grassland and marine cultures.
The event offers a great platform for artists from both regions to showcase their talent and share ideas — while providing locals and visitors with a top-flight artistic experience.
The exhibition features over 60 outstanding works by oil painters from both areas. These capture the expansive and majestic northern grasslands, alongside the azure seas and tropical breezes of the southern coast.
With their unique perspectives and detailed brushwork, the artists portray the evocative landscapes and deep cultural roots of both regions — embodying the spirit of modern artists who are deeply connected to the people and committed to their craft.
