The folks of Sanya like soups and make them as a local specialty cuisine for tourists.
From tangy and refreshing sour fish soup to the local clear and sweet coconut chicken, the act of consuming soup takes on many forms in Sanya.
1. Sour fish soup
At Yanglan village, sour fish soup features key ingredients like wild sea fish, starfruit and sour plum beans. Cooked in a pot and served with a dipping sauce infused with lime juice, this dish captures the very essence of nature in its purest form.

2. Betel flower chicken
Betel flower chicken is a favored delicacy really enjoyed by Sanya folk. Simple to make, it involves stewing unopened betel flowers with fresh chicken. The combination of chicken broth and the betel flowers adds a touch of freshness to the rich soup.
3. Coconut chicken
In Sanya, enjoying coconut chicken is bliss. Free-range chicken and local green coconuts are essential. Each coconut is freshly cracked open, infusing the soup with natural coconut aroma and succulent chicken meat. Paired with kumquat dipping sauce, it's irresistibly delicious.

4. Lees vinegar
Lees vinegar is a traditional delicacy in Hainan – boasting a rich, sweet and sour flavor with a hint of rice essence. When paired with seafood, the fermented tang and wine aroma of lees vinegar elevates the dish, enhancing the freshness of the seafood.
