Celebrate Lantern Festival in Sanya with joyful festivities

Have you decided how to celebrate the Lantern Festival this year? From riddle guessing and lantern displays to carnival festivities, Sanya offers a plethora of activities to unlock the festive spirit.

1. Red Detachment of Women Scenic Area

On Feb 12, the Lantern Festival, visitors can receive free lanterns to place in water pools for blessings and wishes. Activities include riddle guessing, New Year painting, lantern festival performances, and more.

2. Luhuitou Scenic Area

Visitors can participate in making, cooking, and tasting rice balls on-site for free. Additionally, the scenic area organizes lantern festival dance flash mobs and night running activities.

3. Dadonghai Square

Featuring a unique Hainan-style parade with a procession of 100 people, including traditional attire from the Li and Miao ethnic groups and lantern formations. Enjoy dance performances by hanfu girls holding lanterns, Li ethnic bamboo dance, and dragon and lion dances.

4. West Island Scenic Area

The Lantern Festival activities revolve around an interactive market theme with six main booths. Creative product making and bamboo dance performances will be provided.

5. Along the Sanya River

From Feb 12 to 14, the Lantern Festival Joyful Lantern Appreciation event will take place along the Sanya River. It will feature performances related to the intangible cultural heritage.
