The two-day Sanya Surfing Open kicked off in Dadonghai Bay on Aug 28, and 67 athletes on 25 teams from across the country competed in the event. It is the first large-scale surfing competition to be held in the resort city.

The competition was divided into three groups, namely longboard, paddleboard and motorized surfboard. The competition adopted a single-round elimination system, and for each round, only the top two advance to the following rounds and eventually compete for the championship, second place and third place prizes.

The Surfing Open was also one of the Sanya's National Fitness Day events this year. The event not only provides a platform for communication and display for surfing enthusiasts and surf clubs, but also provides a valuable opportunity for the selection of outstanding reserve athletes.
