Sanya gears up for 7th Hainan ethnic games

The 7th Traditional Games for Hainan's Ethnic Minorities will be held in Sanya and Lingshui from Nov 24 to 29.

The city of Sanya will host the opening ceremony, and in preparation for the symbols of the games can be spotted across the city, from roads to the LED screens of major shopping malls. Taxis in the city also announce the forthcoming grand event through advertisements displayed on their rooftop screens, some of which welcome guests from all over the world.

The 7th Traditional Games for Hainan's Ethnic Minorities will feature 17 major events and 96 sub-events. Sixteen delegations will participate, consisting of 1,204 athletes. This year's edition of the games has the broadest number of participating ethnic groups, the largest number of competitive events, and the highest number of participating athletes in the history of the games.

A total of 750 people from local universities have volunteered for the event. They will mainly focus on organizing competitions, providing reception services, and ensuring safety.
