Advanced children's medical center in Sanya topped off

The main structure of Phase II of the Hainan Hospital of Shanghai Children's Medical Center was completed on Jan 21.

The project covers an area of 46.01 mu (3.07 hectares), with a total construction area of 113,740.88 square meters and a planned capacity of 500 patient beds.

 
It integrates medical, teaching, scientific research, prevention, maternal and child health care, rehabilitation, public emergency response, and first aid.

It has been planned to be a 3A-grade specialized hospital for women and children that is advanced in concept, first-class in environment, well-equipped in facilities, fully functional, and leading in capabilities.

 
"The project's construction officially started on Oct 29, 2022, and is scheduled to complete the secondary structural construction, pipeline and exterior wall installation, and interior decoration work this year," said Zhang Tianwei of the project's managing entity.

In May 2022, the National Development and Reform Commission, in collaboration with the National Health Commission and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, jointly unveiled the list of the third batch of national regional medical center construction projects. The Hainan Hospital of Shanghai Children's Medical Center earned its place on this prestigious list, signifying its recognition and inclusion in the ongoing efforts to advance regional medical centers nationwide.

Zhou Min, director of the Hainan Hospital at Shanghai Children's Medical Center, outlined the hospital's future endeavors. The next phase involves positioning itself as a top-tier national children's regional medical center, creating a focal point for maternal and child healthcare in southern Hainan. The aim is to extend its influence across the entire Hainan region and reach out to Southeast Asia. This strategic vision is geared towards providing enhanced support for the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
