Sanya, Moscow direct flight route, opens

A Russian Airlines aircraft carrying 264 passengers arrived at Sanya Phoenix International Airport from the Russian capital, Moscow, on Dec 28, marking the official opening of the first air route connecting Hainan and Russia.

The Sanya-Moscow air route is operated by an A330-300 aircraft, with two weekly flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The inbound flight is numbered SU224, departing from Moscow at 17:20 and arriving in Sanya at 3:10 the following day. The outbound flight is numbered SU225, departing from Sanya at 4:50 and arriving in Moscow at 15:55.

The winter and spring seasons are the peak seasons for Russian tourists to travel to Sanya to escape the cold. An official of the Sanya Tourism Board noted that the resumption of the air route coincides with the upcoming New Year and Spring Festival holidays.

During the holidays, Sanya is scheduled to hold large-scale events such as the Strawberry Music Festival, drone performances, and temple fairs, enriching the vacation experience for domestic and international tourists in Sanya.

Currently, Sanya airport has opened 14 international air routes in 2023, further enhancing Sanya's internationalization level, being of great significance for building and improving Sanya's international air route network, and promoting the construction of Sanya airport as an international aviation hub.
