Hainan's 1st bougainvillea park opens in Sanya

The Bougainvillea Science Expo Park in Sanya's Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City, the first in Hainan province, has recently started trial operation, local media outlets reported on March 6.

The park now displays around 450 varieties of bougainvillea germplasm resources, integrating functions such as germplasm resource collection, innovative utilization, comprehensive display, and popular science education.

The project been integrated into the green space park system of Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City. The concept of "entering the park within 300 meters, accessing the green corridor within 1 kilometer, and reaching the mountain and sea within 3 km" has been realized, resulting in the development of a city park that amalgamates scientific research, leisure, play, and ecological elements for the enjoyment of citizens and tourists.

As a base for the preservation and application of bougainvillea germplasm resources, the park is linked to the national bougainvillea germplasm resource construction project. It is an integral part of the construction of Hainan as the National Tropical Agricultural Science Center and the Global Plant and Animal Germplasm Resource Introduction and Transfer Base.

 
Through facilities and equipment such as AR, desktop graphics and text, cultural and creative products, electronic screens, microscopes, line drawing art, and interactive images, the park provides a multi-dimensional visual and multi-sensory experience, making it convenient for the public to explore Bougainvillea from a distance.
