Sanya has presented a rich and colorful folk cultural feast for its residents and tourists this spring, igniting a wave of enthusiasm for cultural tourism.

During the traditional Hainan Li and Miao ethnic Sanyuesan Festival, major scenic areas in Sanya have launched a series of splendid folk performances and activities.

Visitors have been immersed in the festive spirit, engaging in welcoming dances and interactive bamboo pole dances, as well as performances that beautifully embody the ethnic cultural characteristics and offer a glimpse into the vibrant charm of Sanya's ethnic culture.

At the Red Detachment of Women Memorial Park, the Water Splashing Carnival has attracted numerous visitors. The event will continue until May 31.

In addition to the activities at the scenic areas, Sanya has enhanced the popularity of the spring cultural tourism market by hosting branded events. The 2024 Sanya Sunny Run Carnival attracted nearly 4,000 participants. Along the race route, special performances such as the Miao dragon dance and Li ethnic folk songs allowed the participants to experience Sanya's authentic ethnic customs while engaging in the sports event.

Looking ahead, Ma Nan of the Sanya Tourism Board said that Sanya is set to host the 12th National Traditional Sports Games of Ethnic Minorities in November. The city is also exploring innovative "tourism+" models, aiming to blend tourism with sports, traditional ethnic culture, and more, paving the way for a dynamic future in cultural and sports tourism.
