The city of Sanya in South China's Hainan province hosted a special art festival on June 5, seeking to promote environmental awareness through art, boost sustainable ecological tourism, and integrate environmental protection with art and philanthropy.

The event is being held at Yucun Square in Tianya district and is scheduled to run until Oct 8.

The opening day featured a range of engaging events, including the debut of the public service microfilm Flying Turtle, a sharing session on rescuing a stranded short-finned pilot whale, and the launch of environmental-themed art exhibitions.
In addition, over 100 corporate representatives, citizens, tourists, and artists engaged in volunteer activities which were part of the "clean beach and sea" campaign initiated to mark World Environment Day.

Contract signing ceremonies were also held, which saw the signing of projects such as the cooperation project between Tianya district and the Art Development Center of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Representatives from diverse sectors signed an environmental protection convention, showcasing a strong dedication to preserving West Island's ecological environment.

Charitable organizations also signed ecological cooperation agreements with the West Island community to advance ecological conservation projects, while cultural and tourism enterprises reaffirmed their commitment to driving sustainable development in ecological tourism.
