Sanya is expected to hold the 2024 Tropical Coastal City Exchange Event on Sept 4-5, and delivered invitations to members of the Asia-Pacific Tourism Association (APTA) and tropical coastal cities at a media briefing on Aug 27 in Bangkok, Thailand.
During the briefing, Noor Ahmad Hamid, the chief executive officer of the APTA, expressed his delight in collaborating with Sanya. As a tropical coastal city, Sanya boasts abundant tourism resources and unique geographical advantages, positioning it as a crucial partner for the association's future development, he said.
Albert Yip, director general of the Sanya tourism board, provided a detailed overview of Sanya's tourism resources, international tourism policies, and highlighted the key features of the 2024 Tropical Coastal City Exchange Event.
According to Yip, the event includes tours of Sanya's tourism resources, experiences of intangible cultural heritage fashion shows, and a series of themed days focusing on "International Tourism Marketing". It focuses on creating a platform for business exchanges to foster cooperation across tourism, trade, culture, and more.
At the briefing, Yip and Hamid entered into a cooperative memorandum outlining a preliminary agreement for a three-year partnership. This agreement involves hosting the Tropical Coastal City Exchange Event in Sanya for three consecutive editions from 2024 to 2026. Both parties agreed that the APTA aims to promote Sanya as an international tourism destination to other countries and regions through diverse channels and formats.
