Sanya is elevating its urban quality, enhancing the happiness index of its residents and improving the overall experience for domestic and international visitors.

The city has implemented a three-year action plan for urban planning and construction management. To date, 20 urban parks and green spaces have been established and the urban green coverage is now at 42.48 percent.

Additionally, eight greenways have been constructed, with the completion of a "super greenway" spanning 33.7 kilometers.

Through the three-year action plan for rural vitalization and management, 35 government-funded projects have been completed.

Various popular formats – such as rural homestays, leisure agriculture, cultural creativity, the courtyard economy and water sports – have enriched the rural landscape.

Villages are focusing on developing specialized industries – such as durian growing at Nashou village, clam digging at Meilian village, the rural market at Shengchang village and culinary delicacies at Liupan village. Then there is courtyards tourism in Shuijiao village, night markets from Honghua village, homestays at Bohou village and rural complexes in Damao village.

On May 20, Sanya launched the three-year action plan to raise its urban quality. By enhancing public green spaces, optimizing road networks, improving residential environments and refining urban management and governance, Sanya intends to establish a benchmark for urban quality in the Hainan Free Trade Port, showcasing the charms of a "world-class coastal city" and transforming Sanya into a desirable and livable metropolis.
