Sanya to welcome series of new landmarks

Sanya is set to welcome a series of great new landmarks, which will provide a more vibrant and diverse cultural and tourism experience for residents and visitors alike.

1. "Twin Centers" project

The Hainan International Cultural Relics and Art Exchange Center and the Hainan International Cultural Exchange Center stand as key dual-focus projects for Hainan province and Sanya city.

The former will feature a large exhibition space, art institutions, artifact shops, art auctions and multi-functional halls. The latter will include a 1,400-seat opera house, a 500-seat multi-functional hall, a small theater and a public art experience area.

2. Sanya City Cultural Center

Comprising the Sanya Museum and the Sanya Comprehensive Archives, the Sanya City Cultural Center project aims to enrich the urban cultural service system – allowing residents and tourists to better understand the history and culture of Sanya.

3. Sanya TaiKoo Li

Located in the third phase of Sanya International Duty Free Complex, Sanya TaiKoo Li is the first resort-style retail project undertaken by Swire Properties.

With a construction area exceeding 360,000 square meters, it will establish an international cultural tourism commercial landmark –combining high-end retail outlets, coastal cultural tourism elements and cutting-edge cultural and artistic scenes.

4. Nanfan Museum

The Nanfan Museum commenced construction on Oct 10, 2022, at Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City, spanning an area of 19.38 mu.

The museum is scheduled to open in June 2025, featuring permanent exhibitions on Nanfan's history and seed technology.
