Yazhou Bay drives research, industry growth

Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City (YZBSTC) in Sanya is emerging as a vital hub for the Nanfan seed industry and deep-sea technology sector.

With 26 ongoing seed industry and deep-sea research platform projects, key initiatives like the National Nanfan Crop Phenotype Research Facility and the National (Sanya) Animal and Plant Quarantine Center are operational. Notably, the world's largest National Wild Rice Germplasm Resource Nursery and China's first salt-alkali-resistant rice research base are thriving in Yazhou Bay.

The park has attracted 21 seed industry and deep-sea research institutes, 17 university branch institutions, and national-level innovation centers, fostering over 2,800 high-level talents. With 1,421 patents and 129 technology transformation contracts, the park is promoting seed industry innovations and nurturing CRO services.

YZBSTC is home to advanced technology platforms specializing in deep-sea research, marine materials, and marine biomedicine. The park's Nanshan Port, the nation's first public scientific research pier, supports marine scientific research on a national scale. It prioritizes deep-sea equipment, communication, and scientific services, attracting over 30 high-end equipment manufacturers and 40 technology service enterprises.

By leveraging its strengths in the Nanfan seed industry and deep-sea technology sector, YZBSTC continues to drive research advancements and industrial growth, solidifying its position as a leading center for innovation and industry agglomeration.
