The inaugural Hainan Open International Classic Cars Competition (HN-OPEN) is set to take place in Sanya. This prestigious event marks the first time this world-class classic car gathering, a pinnacle of vintage automotive culture, has been held in Hainan.

Originating in Europe and flourishing in the West, classic car competitions boast a rich history and continue to captivate enthusiasts worldwide.

The HN-OPEN is set to kick off on Nov 13, featuring a public showcase of classic cars in a city parade on Nov 16. From Nov 17, the event anticipates to include a scenic rally starting and finishing in Sanya, passing through iconic landmarks and tourist attractions across Hainan.

More than 60 vintage vehicles from 16 countries are poised to participate, all manufactured between 1910 and 1974, with an average age of nearly 70.

The event is expected to highlight Sanya's stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage, traversing cities such as Changjiang, Haikou, Wenchang, and Wanning.

Unlike speed races, the competition emphasizes time, point, and route control, ensuring a safe and leisurely experience. The average speed for the rally is set to be at most 60 kilometers per hour, allowing participants to appreciate the elegance of these historic vehicles.

Classic cars - often called "antique cars" or "vintage cars" - are typically defined as vehicles over 30 years old. These elegant machines are symbols of automotive history and embody cultural significance and artistry, transcending their original role as mere transportation.
