Film festival showcases globalization of Hainan Island

The 6th Hainan Island International Film Festival is set to take place on Dec 4-10 in Sanya, Hainan province, highlighting its growing internationalization.

The global call for submissions has attracted 4,330 films from 117 countries and regions. Of these, 3,356 are international films, accounting for 77.5 percent .

The films represent countries including India, Russia, France, the United States, Turkey, Italy and many others – underscoring the festival's international influence and appeal.

The composition of its Golden Coconut Awards jury further emphasizes its international nature.

The jury includes renowned French director Luc Besson as chairman, with distinguished directors, screenwriters and actors from China, France, Argentina, Italy, Canada and other countries.

They'll select winners from around the world in three key categories: feature films, documentaries and short films, in a glittering extravaganza.

Additionally, the festival has appointed French film star Sophie Marceau as the festival's image ambassador and Chinese actor Ge You as the New Year ambassador.

The event is set to bring together prominent figures from both China and abroad to promote further collaboration and exchanges in the film industry.
