The 6th Hainan Island International Film Festival is set to take place in Sanya, Hainan province, with the screenings on Dec 4-14 spanning 20 cinemas across seven counties and cities on the Island.

Chinese actress Zhou Yiran has been appointed screening ambassador.

The Spotlight Filmmaker segment will spotlight some of the foremost figures in the global film industry or film groups through themed screenings.

This year, the focus turns to the works of "Omnes Films", inviting audiences to witness cutting-edge world cinema through futuristic camera lenses.

Omnes Films is an independent film collective primarily based in Los Angeles. Releasing four new works a year, Omnes Films is said to stand out as a bright star in contemporary film creation.

The collective emphasizes atmosphere over plot narrative and explores cultural decline in the 21st century.

The organizers say the Tribute to Classics segment will pay homage to iconic works and figures that have shaped cinematic history,  transcending time to illuminate the screens in a unique way, redefining the connection between film and the present.

The screening segment features classic works like Italian director Michelangelo  Antonioni's existential masterpiece La Notte and French director Jacques Demy's vibrant romantic tribute The Umbrellas of Cherbourg – aiming to evoke respect for the glorious history of cinema and spark limitless imagination for the future of cinematic art.
