During the Dragon Boat Festival holiday from May 31 to June 2, Haikou Customs reported overseeing duty-free shopping on outlying islands amounting to 187 million yuan ($26.03 million), with 156,100 items purchased by 31,300 shoppers.
Four duty-free shops in Sanya demonstrated exceptional performance, generating a total sales revenue of 118 million yuan. These shops served 19,800 shoppers, resulting in the sale of 91,300 items.
A visitor surnamed Li from Beijing selected a skincare set at the Sanya International Duty-Free City, appreciating the advantageous duty-free prices in comparison to online and retail prices. She mentioned saving nearly 1,000 yuan on the essence compared to the retail price, emphasizing the cost-effectiveness of her purchase.

Haikou Customs has optimized its supervision processes in recent years, enhancing clearance efficiency through intelligent means.
"Once we submit the order for inspection, the customs supervision system verifies the information and releases it. Many popular items can be shelved within half a day," said Yang Yiqian, the manager of the fragrance section at Sanya International Duty-Free City.
