In anticipation of the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday travel surge, the resort city of Sanya in China's southernmost Hainan province has got itself into gear.

It's meticulously planned a multi-faceted tourism offering — focusing on better products, optimized services, new public-benefit measures and stronger market supervision.

To make intangible cultural heritage tangible and engaging, over 20 free activities — including rabbit lantern workshops and a literature exhibition — will be held at cultural venues.

Free stand-up comedy shows and sunset concerts are scheduled at the city cultural center and Luhuitou Scenic Area. Traditional customs like iron-flower forging and fish lantern parades will be revitalized with modern presentations at resorts like Yalong Bay and Sanya Bay.

Tourist attractions are joining in. Sanya Silk Road Happy World will install a 10-meter-high moon lamp and host eight days of themed concerts.

Wuzhizhou Island will organize a formation of surfers who will create the number "76", symbolizing the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, on the water. Luhuitou will offer free fluorescent gear for night runs, while Daxiaodongtian Scenic Area will feature tai chi performances and local folk music.

Major events include the 2025 Sanya Rural Food Festival, a Beer Festival, an international folk antique exchange conference and the European HP Tour Sanya stop, providing more choices for visitors.

Sanya will promote luggage storage services at 121 locations, launch themed express deliveries for local specialties and continue its compensation mechanism. Free Wi-Fi, rest and reading services will be available to ensure a comfortable visit.
