Sanya's harvests fuel rural vitalization

Sept 23 marks the Autumn Equinox and China marks the Farmers' Harvest Festival. Sanya demonstrates robust agricultural achievements, exceeding its 2025 grain and oil crop planting target by 6 percent with 119,400 mu (7,960 hectares) cultivated. This success highlights a broader story of rural vitalization.

The city's agricultural strength is built on advanced farming practices. It has promoted high-yield rice varieties across 77,500 mu (5,166.7 hectares) and eco-friendly crop rotation models on over 100,000 mu (6,666.7 hectares), enhancing both yield and soil health. Strong policy support, including millions in subsidies to thousands of households, underpins this progress.

Beyond the fields, the fishing port is bustling with activity after the moratorium, supplying fresh catch to markets. Simultaneously, the "sweet economy" of specialty fruits like durian honey and yellow sapote is thriving across more than 30,000 mu (2,000 hectares), with strong brand recognition driving demand nationwide.

This comprehensive harvest is accelerated by significant rural reforms. In 2024, the collective income of all 97 villages surged, each exceeding 200,000 yuan ($28,116). Improved cold storage logistics and targeted support systems effectively guard against poverty, ensuring shared prosperity and painting a vibrant future for Sanya's countryside.
