Sanya has been ranked as one of the most popular off-peak travel spots in China, as the tourism industry reaches its peak after summer, with students heading back to school.
Based on recent booking data from Tuniu, a leading online travel platform in China, nearly 80 percent of trips in September are domestic off-peak travels. This trend is expected to continue until the week prior to the National Day holiday.
Famous for its stunning coastal views and diverse tourism offerings, Sanya stands out alongside cities like Beijing and Shanghai.
''We thought it might be quiet, but it's even more fun than we imagined,'' said Wu Lizhu, a tourist from Wuhan, Hubei province. ''The experience is great and very cost-effective.”
In September, Sanya continues to attract a significant number of senior travelers, owing to its warm climate and tranquil, laid-back environment. According to Tuniu, a leading online travel platform, the majority of off-peak visitors comprise individuals aged 55 and above, as well as families traveling with young children. This demographic exhibits a pronounced preference for guided and customized touring experiences that cater specifically to their interests and comfort levels. Popular travel packages among these groups include comprehensive all-inclusive stays and flight-and-hotel combo deals at luxury resorts, including Atlantis Sanya and Yalong Bay Horizon Resort &Spa.
