Sanya pavilion sets new record at Hainan winter trade fair

The four-day 28th China (Hainan) International Winter Trade Fair for Tropical Agricultural Products concluded on Dec 7. The Sanya pavilion stood out with a record turnover of 173 million yuan ($23.86 million), up 52 million yuan from the previous session.

The fair saw 200,000 cumulative on-site visits, with 595 million yuan in on-site transactions, 1.55 billion yuan in total orders, and 36 signed project agreements worth 5.17 billion yuan. It featured eight special sections: landmarks, new/high-quality goods, intangible cultural heritage, deep-sea products, and more. Sanya arranged for 35 enterprises, associations and public brands to exhibit over 100 products, including fresh fruits, processed agricultural goods, landmark items and agricultural cultural and creative derivatives.

Exhibit quality and Hainan Free Trade Port policies drove the Sanya Pavilion's growth. Featured products like yellow star fruit, mango pineapple and watermelon pineapple based on the port's processing trade policies to connect domestic and overseas markets, gaining wide recognition for stable quality and standardization. Technological empowerment boosted competitiveness. For instance, "Yushuban", a hybrid of Epinephelus fuscoguttatus and Cromileptes altivelis, became a hotspot for its tender meat and high growth rate.

The fresh fruit tasting area and activity titled "check in and win gifts: discover the taste of Sanya" boosted audience engagement.

Sanya launched practical measures via innovative service mechanisms to cut enterprise exhibition costs, break information barriers, and facilitate collaboration between merchants, enterprises and producing areas. To address SMEs' market development challenges, the organizing committee established a precise docking mechanism, encouraging dealers to conduct full industrial chain inspections in Sanya, Chengmai, Lingao and other regions, deepening cooperation from production-sales matching to industrial collaboration.
