Sanya Phoenix International Airport set a record on Feb 5, when it handled a blistering 690 metric tons of cargo and mail in a single day.
The landmark highlighted the improved cargo capabilities of the airport, which has provided strong support for the growth of aviation logistics at the Hainan Free Trade Port.
The air cargo market in Sanya is currently in the middle of its peak season. With the continued expansion of its Sanya-Milan all-cargo cross-border e-commerce business, demand for air freight has taken off.
In response to the surge, Sanya Phoenix International Airport has proactively planned and implemented precise measures.
It's strengthened coordination with airlines, courier companies and freight agents, efficiently managing both the belly space of airplanes and all-cargo flight resources to optimize capacity allocation.
What's more, in order to boost overall efficiency, the airport is streamlining key processes on the apron, including cargo sorting, loading and unloading, as well as warehousing and transfer operations.
By adding new facilities, upgrading equipment and increasing front-line staff members, the complex is significantly ramping up its capacity to handle cargo and mail.
Moving forwards, Sanya Phoenix International Airport will further work out plans to capitalize on the expanding aviation market.
The focus will be on refining the cargo route network, upgrading infrastructure, boosting service quality and strengthening international logistics partnerships.
The airport aims to play a pivotal role in supporting the growth of the Hainan FTP with practical strategies and top-flight services.
