In the wake of Sanya's high‑profile presentation recently at the 60th ITB Berlin tourism trade show, officials and industry leaders in Prague — capital of the Czech Republic — have signaled strong interest in working with the Chinese metropolis.
It's being seen as a sign that the marketing in Europe of Sanya is gaining ground.
Earlier in March, a Hainan tourism delegation — jointly organized by the Sanya Tourism Board and the Hainan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism — made an international debut at the 60th ITB Berlin and at a dedicated promotional event in Prague.
The push by Sanya centered around four strategic agreements, namely the inauguration of two overseas promotion liaison offices, a key partnership with a world-class travel IP, and the launch of a Central and Eastern Europe invitation program.
The flurry of promotional activities by Sanya in Europe has garnered significant attention and brought Sanya and the Czech Republic closer together.
Jiri Pos, CEO of Prague Airport, posted on his LinkedIn account, praising Sanya for its unique charm and potential for collaboration.
He wrote:
Yesterday I had the opportunity, together with colleagues from the Aviation Business team at Prague Airport to meet representatives of Hainan province and the city of Sanya. We discussed opportunities to further promote this beautiful destination and support the direct flight operated by SCAT Airlines, currently once a week and increasing to twice weekly from April.
Hainan province and its well-known resort city of Sanya, located on the southern part of the island, have great potential to become an attractive destination for Czech travelers. Visitors can discover a unique mix of tropical nature, warm climate throughout most of the year and beautiful beaches. I am pleased that we can work together to further develop this connection and bring another fascinating Asian destination closer to Czech travelers.
Sanya not only boasts clear blue seas and skies, but also tropical rainforests.

Jiri Manek, former director of the Sumava National Park Administration and president of the Czech-China Cultural and Business Exchange Center, believed that Sanya perfectly combined beautiful natural landscapes with modern tourism infrastructure.
There were few places in the world where one could so easily access preserved tropical rainforests — and this unique combination made Sanya really stand out, he said.
From Jiri Pos's high praise to Jiri Manek's visit to experience things firsthand, there's a growing interest in Sanya.
Overall, it's being appreciated that the seeds sown during Sanya delegation's visit to Europe are beginning to take root and flourish.
Moving forwards, Sanya's story with the world is entering a more dynamic and enduring chapter.
