Sanya hosts marine equipment technology exhibition

The opening ceremony of OCEANS 2026 global conference took place in Sanya on May 26, along with a marine equipment technology exhibition.

The event attracted 51 exhibitors from around the globe, all eager to showcase the latest cutting-edge innovations in ocean technology.

The School of Oceanography at Shanghai Jiao Tong University has developed a hybrid aerial underwater vehicle that can fly, land on water, dive underwater and return to its starting point.

This innovative vehicle is said to show very great promise for use in scientific observation of the ocean and atmosphere, reconnaissance of underwater targets, cross-medium communications relays and specialized operations in island and reef areas.

Other advanced equipment shown on the exhibition include the Wave Glider, a wave-propelled autonomous surface vehicle designed to gather ocean data.
