The Spring Ceramic Exhibition 2026 in the CBD of Sanya, the coastal city in China's southernmost Hainan province, generated impressive sales of 10.08 million yuan ($1.49 million), with a 63 percent transaction rate, bringing a strong boost to the cultural relics and art market in the Hainan Free Trade Port.

The exhibition, open to the public and free, featured over 300 exquisite pieces from the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911), allowing both locals and tourists in Sanya to experience 600 years of ceramic artistry right in their own backyard.

The celebration of ceramics and the accompanying auction highlight the dynamic growth of Sanya's cultural and art scene.

Positioned as a key cultural hub in the Hainan FTP, Sanya is capitalizing on its strategic location and policy advantages to become a new center for international art and cultural relic transactions.

From building bonded warehouses to hosting exhibitions — and from bringing in international brands to revitalizing local culture — Sanya is embracing an open approach to streamline the entire process of exhibiting, trading and circulating cultural relics and artworks. As a result, it's breathing new life into the cultural industry and market.

The Hainan International Cultural Heritage and Art Exchange is due to open by the end of the year, marking a significant milestone for Sanya's art and relics industry.

The venue will become an international platform for exhibitions, auctions, trade and bonded storage. It will host cultural exchange events and attract global art resources — thereby positioning Hainan as an international cultural exchange gateway to the Pacific and Indian Oceans.
