In the first quarter of 2026, Sanya's GDP hit 28.461 billion yuan ($4.19 billion) — representing 4.5 percent year-on-year growth at constant prices, 0.3 percentage points higher compared with the same period last year.
During this period, the primary sector contributed 4.554 billion yuan, up 2.3 percent; the secondary sector added 2.729 billion yuan, up 11.4 percent; while the tertiary sector brought in 21.178 billion yuan, up 4.1 percent.
In the first quarter, the total output value of the agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery sectors reached 5.39 billion yuan, marking a 2.2 percent increase year-on-year — with the fishery sector alone growing by 17.7 percent.
The service sector saw a 4.1 percent rise in value-added, while the financial market remained stable — with deposits and loans at financial institutions increasing by 5.3 percent and 11.5 percent, respectively, by the end of March.
Q1 revenue from profit-making service enterprises above designated size jumped by 21.3 percent. The total trade in goods hit 9.389 billion yuan, surging 68.7 percent year-on-year, with imports standing at 5.198 billion yuan, up 44.2 percent; and exports at 4.19 billion yuan, up 113.7 percent.
In addition, citywide fixed-asset investment rose by 2.6 percent compared with last year, with non-real estate investments lifting by 25.9 percent.
Infrastructure and public service investments grew by 70.4 percent and 1.3 percent respectively, boosting overall investment growth by 13 percentage points.
In the first quarter, the sales area for new commercial housing reached 455,900 square meters, up 4.9 percent, indicating a lively real estate market.
Retail sales of consumer goods in the city totaled 18.882 billion yuan, a 5.9 percent increase year-on-year.
The city welcomed 9.5281 million overnight tourists, an 8.8 percent rise, with their total spending reaching 38.08 billion yuan, up 11.8 percent.
That's as the average occupancy rate of tourist hotels came in at 85.3 percent, 4.1 percentage points higher than the previous year.
The average disposable income for residents in the first three months of the year was 12,995 yuan, a 4.2 percent increase. Urban residents earned an average of 14,467 yuan, up 3.5 percent, while rural residents averaged 8,822 yuan, up 6.1 percent. The growth in disposable income for rural residents outpaced that of urban residents by 2.6 percentage points.
