China's southernmost province of Hainan launched its first fully electric, smart leisure fishing boat, the Qiong Sanya Yu Xiu 88388, from the Wuzhizhou Island Wharf on June 8.
The event marked a significant step forward for Hainan's leisure fishing industry — ushering in a new era of electrification and intelligent technology.
The vessel boasts several industry firsts in China. Its design optimizes the hull for both strength and lightweight efficiency, enhancing safety, comfort and smart capabilities.
In particular, it's the first leisure fishing boat to incorporate an integrated wind and solar energy storage system. It also features cutting-edge technologies such as digital twin systems, facial recognition, fatigue monitoring, man-overboard alerts and smart home integration.
Additionally, it pioneers the use of autonomous navigation technology in leisure fishing.
The vessel will be reportedly used for activities like leisure fishing and marine sightseeing — supporting Hainan's transformation from being a locale to simply view the sea to one in where people actively experience the ocean — all the while fostering the high-quality integration of marine tourism and leisure fishing.
