The 2026 summer travel season has now kicked off and to cater to growing customer needs, China Southern Airlines' Hainan branch has strategically expanded its flights to popular tourist destinations — like Qinghai province, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and the Shantou-Chaozhou-Jieyang area in Guangdong province.

It's added four new routes: Haikou-Changsha-Xining, Sanya-Changsha-Urumqi, Sanya- Wuhan-Urumqi and a direct flight from Sanya to Jieyang.

These new routes create an air bridge that links China's southernmost Hainan province to the northwestern inland and eastern Guangdong regions.

At the same time, the airline has increased the frequency of its flights between Sanya and cities like Beijing, Chongqing and Chengdu — continuously refining its network to give travelers more efficient options.

The Sanya-Wuhan-Urumqi route is set to run one flight daily from July 8 to Aug 30. Meanwhile, the Haikou-Changsha-Xining route, Sanya-Changsha-Urumqi route and the Sanya-Jieyang route will run daily from July 10 to Aug 31.

In terms of capacity, China Southern Airlines is ramping up its overall investment in major routes to and from Hainan, fully enhancing its air travel offerings.

Sanya will feature six daily flights to and from Guangzhou city and Beijing Daxing International Airport and four to Shenzhen city.

Hainan's capital, Haikou will offer eight daily flights to Guangzhou city, five to Shenzhen city and three to Beijing Daxing International Airport.

For popular southwestern cities like Chongqing and Chengdu, flight frequencies have been boosted as well — with three to four daily round trips from Sanya to Chongqing and three daily round trips to Chengdu Tianfu International Airport.
