Sanya ports officially open to international vessels

The port areas of Nanshan, Yinggehai and Qingshui Bay in Sanya Port were officially opened on July 3 to international cruise liners and commercial vessels.

The expansion is said to mark a new era of coordinated multi-port operations in Sanya, significantly boosting its international accessibility.

The three port areas each serve different purposes. The Nanshan Port Area is equipped for international cargo and oil transport. The Yinggehai Port Area mainly handles energy-related vessels. Meanwhile, the Qingshui Bay Port Area, with its 299 yacht berths, specializes in international yacht navigation and docking, highlighting its specialized-sector focus.

Each port area features dedicated anchorages and navigation channels, ensuring the safe and orderly passage of international ships.

An official from the Department of Transport of Hainan province noted that the expansion enhanced the open port network along Hainan's southern coast.

It supported Sanya's growth into a multifunctional international maritime hub, facilitating global shipping routes, advancing the Hainan Free Trade Port's high-level openness and driving the development of port-related industries, coastal tourism and the shipping sector.
