A group of students from Hong Kong and Macao primary and secondary schools, along with their teachers, principals and tour guides, gathered in the coastal city of Sanya on Aug 19 to begin their week-long study tour of the island province of Hainan.
The group, numbered over a hundred, will explore the latest development, historical heritage and cultural attractions of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
The event is hosted by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports of Hainan province and the Sanya municipal people's government, with the support of the municipal bureaus of tourism, culture, radio, television and sports of Sanya, Danzhou, Wenchang and Wanning cities.
The study tour features three main events — a Hainan Night cultural and tourism promotion, a study tour resource exchange and a themed exploration of Hainan — and aims to boost regular exchanges between young people from Hainan, Hong Kong and Macao.
The Hainan Night event kicked off on the evening of Aug 19, showcasing the coastal scenery, aerospace technology and cultural heritage. It also featured photo opportunities, a study tour resource exhibition and a bamboo pole dance.
On the morning of Aug 20, the study tour explored the themes of aerospace, the ocean and rainforests. Representatives from the Hong Kong and Macao study tour organizations shared insights on cross-border study tour cooperation.
Attendees also participated in a roundtable discussion on creating an international youth study tour exchange hub.
The group will continue their themed study tour in Hainan until Aug 25. Starting in Sanya, the itinerary will take them through cities like Wanning, Danzhou, Haikou and Wenchang — offering the chance to experience the diverse appeal of Hainan.
