The 8th Hainan Island International Film Festival (HIIFF) will be held in Sanya city in China's southernmost Hainan province in December.

In the run-up the festival launched yet again the "HIIFF Talents" Venture Capital Training Camp, inviting Chinese-speaking creators to apply. Submissions start on Aug 19 and close at midnight on Sept 10.

Interested individuals can register on the festival's official website (www.hiiff.net) under the "HIIFF Talents" section.

Since its debut in 2024, the "HIIFF Talents" Venture Capital Training Camp has successfully incubated over a dozen short film projects — helping with their development and entry into foreign markets. As a result, these projects have won a slew of awards at film festivals both in China and abroad, consolidating the brand.

This year, the training camp will continue to nurture short film projects based on feature-length ideas — seeking out creative minds with diverse skills and the ability to explore cinematic genres.

The initiative aims to further develop young filmmakers' potential for feature films. It also aims to tap into Hainan's cultural resources — encouraging Hainan-themed content, local filming and the discovery of local talent.

All in all, the initiative aims to support Hainan-produced films and is geared up to boosting the festival's talent pool, while promoting the growth of Hainan's cultural and tourism industries.
