Hainan Island International Film Festival opens for entries

The tropical resort city of Sanya will host the 8th Hainan Island International Film Festival in December and starting Aug 18, the festival is open for film submissions from around the globe.

Submissions to the Golden Coconut Award competition and screening sections closes on the midnight of Sept 24 (Beijing Time).

Filmmakers can register and submit their entries on the festival's official website (www.hiiff.net).

The shortlist for the Golden Coconut Awards and screening sections will be announced in November, with the winners revealed at the festival's closing ceremony.

This year's screening section embraces a diverse selection, welcoming all types of works, including feature films, documentaries and animated films. Priority will be given to films completed after Jan 1, 2025. All entries must be in DCP (Digital Cinema Package) format, suitable for commercial cinema screenings.

The festival's global submission portal is now open, inviting filmmakers worldwide to contribute their exceptional works.

The initiative aims to gather high-quality film resources from across the globe, ensuring a successful and vibrant cinematic event in Hainan.
