6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya achieves carbon neutrality

The 6th Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026 successfully achieved carbon neutrality by fully offsetting all greenhouse gas emissions during the event, according to the Hainan International Carbon Emissions Exchange.

The Games took place in Sanya on April 22-30 and to uphold the green event principles and implement low-carbon initiatives, the Hainan International Carbon Emissions Exchange conducted a thorough audit of all emissions generated during the competition.

Professional verification by the Ti Testing &Certification Group (Shanghai) Co Ltd confirmed the emissions at 15,850.31 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent.

In support of the green event commitment and the carbon neutrality goal, several companies stepped up by donating their various high-quality carbon assets and green certificates.

This collective effort ensured the event's carbon neutrality and fostered a collaborative push towards green and low-carbon development.

The donations covered a broad range of resources — including carbon sinks, emission reductions and green rights certificates.
