President of China Tribune experiences a heartwarming moment in Sanya

Cheng Ruzhao, the president of the US-based China Tribune, was back in Sanya after 15 years. While working on layout approvals for his newspaper at a café in Tianya town on Sept 10, his phone suddenly died, interrupting his work.

Feeling anxious, a café server named Xu Xiaoying offered to help. When she realized Cheng was using a US-version phone, she took him outside to try renting a shared power bank under the scorching sun.

Compatibility issues made it difficult, and several attempts failed. Cheng suggested giving up, but with a determined smile, Xu said, "Let's try again; we can do it." Eventually, she used her own phone to pay and successfully rented a power bank for him.

In just a few minutes, Cheng was back online and able to connect with his office. Despite the heat, Xu remained patient and selfless, deeply impressing the overseas media professional with her genuine kindness and hospitality.

"I am deeply touched by the kindness of the people of Sanya and the hospitality of its younger generation," Cheng remarked. This brief encounter and small act of kindness gave him a true sense of Sanya's warmth.

"I'll leave Sanya with this warmth in my heart, and I want more people to know how sincere and friendly the people of Sanya are," he added.

To him, Sanya's beauty lies not just in its famous tropical scenery but also in the genuine kindness of its people. The small acts of kindness by ordinary citizens are Sanya's most touching qualities and a testament to the welcoming spirit of the Hainan Free Trade Port.

"It's just a small thing," Xu said in response to the effusive praise. "This job allows me to meet friends from around the world, and I hope to share Sanya's warmth and hospitality with every visitor."

Cheng was in Hainan to participate in a Hainan tour for overseas Chinese media outlets. The event aims to showcase the innovative practices and achievements of the Hainan FTP through the lens of these outlets, and to share Hainan's story with the world.
