On the evening of Oct 7, the last flight touched down smoothly at Sanya Phoenix International Airport, marking the end of its operations for this year's National Day holiday.
During this period — the first National Day holiday since the launch of island-wide special customs operations in the Hainan Free Trade Port, Sanya Phoenix International Airport managed 2,751 flights and served 457,000 passenger trips.
The impressive and smooth handling of such a huge number of flights is the result of improvements in both facilities and service quality. In February, the new Terminal 3 at Sanya Phoenix International Airport opened, improving the terminal's layout and passenger flow.
The airport's flight network has expanded to 165 routes, including 129 domestic and 36 international and regional routes, meeting the increased travel demand since the special customs operations were launched.
To ensure a smooth travel experience, Sanya Phoenix International Airport has been proactive in planning and coordination. The airport has strengthened collaboration with air traffic control, airlines and other on-site units, improving flight scheduling and emergency response. More wide-body aircraft have been deployed on key routes, and extra staff members have been assigned to critical areas like check-in and security.
For international passengers, the airport provides smart luggage scanners in the international terminal, offering language support in Chinese, English, Russian and Korean for easier customs clearance.
During the holiday period, festive decorations have been thoughtfully arranged, and the airport's social media channels have offered updates on available tickets and travel tips, ensuring a smoother and more pleasant journey for travelers.
