On Oct 10, the Sanya Phoenix International Airport restarted the Phnom Penh-Sanya-Singapore fifth-freedom passenger route operated by Cambodia Airways, along with the Sanya-Kuala Lumpur route by Malaysia's Batik Air, further strengthening Sanya's international air connections with ASEAN countries.
The Phnom Penh-Sanya-Singapore route runs twice a week. As a fifth freedom route, it allows seamless travel between Phnom Penh, Sanya and Singapore, boosting trade, tourism and exchanges among the three areas.
Currently, the Sanya-Kuala Lumpur route operates once a week on Saturdays. After the switch to the winter-spring schedule at the end of October, it will increase to two flights a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays. This route provides a convenient air link between Sanya and Kuala Lumpur, supported by the mutual visa exemption policy between China and Malaysia, facilitating cultural, tourism and business interactions.
In addition, Malaysia's Firefly Airlines plans to launch the Sanya-Kuala Lumpur route on Oct 14, while Shanghai-based Juneyao Air is set to resume the Sanya-Ulaanbaatar route starting Nov 3.
