Sanya to collaborate with Mariculture Maldives on multiple fronts

On Oct 28, the Sanya Investment Promotion Bureau and the Sanya Central Business District Administration signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Mariculture Maldives Pvt Ltd in Malé, the capital of the Maldives.

Under the agreement, the three parties will collaborate in areas such as tropical aquatic seed breeding, large-scale marine aquaculture, two-way trade in seafood and feed, trade in specialty agricultural products and exchanges in technology and talent.

The agreement supports Mariculture Maldives's efforts to develop tropical aquatic seed breeding, marine aquaculture and bilateral trade at the Hainan Free Trade Port and in Sanya. An annual cooperation work plan and a joint meeting mechanism to facilitate the company's registration in Sanya will also be established.

This initiative aims to introduce high-quality species from the Maldives, such as grouper, golden pomfret and yellowfin tuna, for breeding, seedling and large-scale farming, while also expanding fishmeal import trade.

Mariculture Maldives Pvt Ltd is the first commercial marine aquaculture enterprise in the Maldives, with extensive experience in breeding, cultivating and exporting economically valuable marine fish.

Looking ahead, Sanya will make full use of the Hainan FTP policies to ensure the project is implemented smoothly and that the cooperation quickly delivers results.
