Profile of Jiyang district

Jiyang district was established on Jan 2, 2015, with an area of 371.9 square kilometers. It is a transportation hub located in eastern Sanya connecting the eastern, middle, and northern parts of Hainan Island. It is also the city's political, economic, and cultural center.

The district has mainly developed its tourism and real estate industries. There are not only traditional tourism destinations like Yalong Bay, Dadonghai Bay, and Luhuitou Park, but also new tourism attractions like Qianguqing, a tropical forest park, Yalongwan International Rose Valley, and Volvo Ocean Race Sailing Base.

The district strives to accelerate the optimization and upgrading of the tourism industry structure, guiding and supporting the tourism industry to combine with other industries, such as beautiful village construction, agriculture, healthcare, conferences and exhibitions, education, as well as culture.


In the first half of 2024, the GDP of Jiyang district hit 17.94 billion yuan ($2.47 billion), accounting for 36.3 percent of Sanya's total and representing 0.6 percent year-on-year growth.

The average disposable income per capita for all residents in the district stood at 23,473 yuan during the period, reflecting a 4.1 percent increase.

Urban residents enjoyed an average disposable income of 25,201 yuan, up by 3.7 percent, while rural residents saw their average disposable income rise to 14,066 yuan, a notable 7.5 percent increase.
