Upgrades made to Sanya's offshore duty-free shopping system

Hainan's offshore duty-free shopping sales have witnessed a surge since the implementation of new pick-up methods. Additionally, new landmarks are set to enhance the shopping experience in Sanya.

On April 1, Hainan's offshore duty-free shopping system introduced the "guaranteed pick-up" and "buy and pick-up" methods. Under these methods, tourists are able to pick up their goods on site after submitting a guarantee equivalent for duty-free goods valued over 50,000 yuan ($6,881), or they can pick up their duty-free goods instantly if they are worth under 20,000 yuan.

According to statistics from Haikou Customs over the last five months, the duty-free sales under the "buy and pick-up" method amounted to 1.46 billion yuan, with 1.63 million pieces purchased by 731,000 individuals. The sales volume under the "guaranteed pick-up" method reached 35.71 million yuan, with an average spending of 99,200 yuan per person.

In addition, Phase II of the CDF Sanya International Duty Free Complex is set to open later this year. It will primarily feature high-end fragrance-related products, along with various dining options.

Furthermore, Phase II of the CDF Sanya Phoenix Airport Duty-Free Shop will also be unveiled soon. This commercial complex will cover an area of nearly 5,000 square meters inside the airport and offer a wide range of duty-free products.
