The new special customs operations in the Hainan Free Trade Port are adding more charm to Sanya as a popular tourist destination.
In the first month after the launch of island-wide special customs operations in the Hainan FTP — from Dec 18 to Jan 18 — Sanya's airport handled 121,000 inbound and outbound passengers, and among them, 98,000 are foreigners, a vast majority.
In all, the foreign folks made up for an extraordinary 81.2 percent of total inbound passengers — and 97.9 percent of them entered visa-free.
These glowing figures highlighted the increasing appeal of Sanya to the world — demonstrating the dynamic impact of the new policy and the growing attractiveness of the region.
