Hainan film festival unveils judges of Golden Coconut Awards

Final preparations are taking place for the 6th Hainan Island International Film Festival, with the lineup of judges for the Golden Coconut Awards of the celebrated event announced on Dec 1.

The competition for the Golden Coconut Awards at the festival is divided into three categories: Feature Films, Documentary Films and Short Films, with a panel of 13 top industry figures from both domestic and international backgrounds serving as judges.

They'll decide on the 10 major awards of the Golden Coconut Awards during the course of the festival, with the winners set to be revealed at the closing ceremony and awards presentation on Dec 10.

For the Feature Films category, French Director Luc Besson is the chairman of the jury, with Italian Cinematographer Paolo Carnera, French Airector Olivier Megaton, Chinese Actress Xu Fan, Chinese actors Wang Jingchun and Zhang Yi, and Argentinian Film Director Laura Sitarella serving as judges.

The Documentary Films category has Chinese Film Director Ju Anqi, Canadian-Chinese Director Yung Chang and Miguel Ribeiro, the artistic director of the Portuguese Documentary Film Festival, as judges.

The Short Films category features Chinese Film Director Li Ruijun, Chinese Screenwriter Bao Jingjing and Italian Director Margherita Justi as judges.

Earlier, the organizers announced the list of nominees for the Golden Coconut Awards competition, with 14 feature films, eight documentary films and 10 short films making the cut. These nominated works hail from over 20 countries and regions.
