The fifth Hainan Island International Film Festival in Sanya has attracted hosts of guests and tourists from both home and abroad, boosting the popularity of local tourism.

The film festival innovatively integrated tourism products related to Sanya and the entire island of Hainan, collaborating with leading companies in duty-free shopping, hotels, and other distinctive tourism sectors.

It has connected the upstream and downstream sectors of the film industry, gathering films from various countries and presenting a diverse cultural collision to the audience. This not only strengthened cultural exchanges, but also provided more choices for domestic viewers.

Moreover, the activities of the film festival extended beyond film screenings, and have included industry forums and jury meetings, among other professional events. These activities facilitated deeper cooperation in the commercial aspects of the film industry.

A staff member of the Shangri-La Sanya, located along the Haitang Bay, noted that since December there has been a strong demand for hotel rooms, with the average occupancy rate steadily increasing from 89 percent in early December to 95.7 percent in the middle of the month.

"The Hainan Island International Film Festival held in Haitang district has greatly enhanced the district's visibility. More and more tourists are coming here for tourism, which has not only boosted economic development, but also promoted urban upgrading," said Huang Shuang of the Haitang District Tourism Association.

Industry insiders have also put forward that the HIIFF is not only a celebration of the film industry but also a positive response to consumption upgrading. As a cultural carrier, films, through their unique power, are driving social concepts and upgrading consumption patterns.
