Sanya forum casts eyes on digital rights management in film, TV

The Digital Rights Management Forum for Film and Television as well as Film Technology Innovation Forum was held on Dec 18, as part of the ongoing fifth Hainan Island International Film Festival in Sanya.

Participants engaged in discussions and exchanges on hot topics such as digital copyright protection in the film and television industry, AIGC, film industrialization as well as HDR Vivid and Audio Vivid technology standards. The focus was on how digital copyrights can empower the high-quality development of the film and television industry.

Bao Yingyan of the Hainan Free Trade Port Intellectual Property Court noted that the judicial protection of digital copyrights should adhere to the law while also promoting innovation. It is important to find a balance between protecting the legitimate rights of rights holders, safeguarding public interests, and promoting the development of the technology and cultural industries.

In October, the Hainan branch of the China Copyright Protection Center was established in Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City in Sanya, making it the first branch center in the country.

 
"The center has fully utilized the advantages of the Hainan FTP, focusing on new governance achievements, new modes of communication, and new business models. It places emphasis on strengthening the regulation of cultural and creative products, gradually establishing a mechanism for fast approval and supervision, and promoting copyright protection in new formats and fields," said Niu Jingjing, executive director of the Hainan branch of the China Copyright Protection Center.
